   At present, aircraft carriers are the largest warships ever built. A modern aircraft carrier is on the board of several dozen aircraft, which may include fighter aircraft, attack plane, the aircraft tankers, long-range radar aircraft detection and management, anti-aircraft, reconnaissance planes and electronic warfare aircraft. In addition, the carrier has a team of helicopters, which constitute a search and rescue, reconnaissance, antisubmarine, and transport vehicles.

   A modern aircraft carrier is a powerful power plant, a large supply of aviation fuel and weapons, which allows a significant amount of time to operate far from their shores.

   As the problems of aircraft carriers is: defense of marine compounds on the march, anti-defense of marine compounds, the air support of ground troops in the coastal zone, the destruction of enemy air defense, the conquest of superiority in the air in a given area, the destruction of enemy ships.

   The cost of construction of modern aircraft carrier with nuclear propulsion is about 4-6 billion U.S. dollars. The monthly cost of the aircraft carrier (excluding staff salaries) accounted for more than 10 million U.S. dollars. Currently, only nine countries have aircraft carriers in service.
